Code 417, Class 9. AI learns from data, so we must understand data. Here we learn its types and how to collect and read it.

What this unit is about
Data literacy is the ability to read, understand and use data. Since AI learns from data, good data leads to good AI.
1. Types of data
Data can be numbers (like marks), text (like names), images or sound. It is also called structured (neat tables) or unstructured (free text, images).
2. Acquiring and cleaning data
We collect data from surveys, sensors or records. Then we clean it, filling missing values and fixing errors, so it is ready to use. This is called data pre-processing.
3. Interpreting data
We study data to find its meaning, using simple statistics and charts. A chart makes patterns clear, so we can make good decisions.
