Code 417, Class 10. NLP lets computers understand language. Here we learn how machines process text and how chatbots work.
|
|
Natural Language Processing (NLP) is the domain of AI that helps computers understand and use human language, in text or speech.
To understand text, a machine breaks it into words, called tokenisation. It removes very common words (stopwords) and counts the important ones, an idea called the bag of words.
A chatbot is a program you can chat with. It reads your message with NLP and gives a helpful reply. Voice assistants work the same way with speech.
NLP powers chatbots, translation, voice assistants and spam filters. Language is hard because words have many meanings and context matters, so NLP keeps improving.
Explore the idea by tapping. The interactive opens right here in the lesson.
