What this chapter is about

A word processor is software for making text documents, such as letters and reports. We create, save, format and print them.

1. Creating and saving

Open the word processor, type your text, then save the file with a name. You can open it again later to edit it. Use cut, copy and paste to move text.

2. Formatting text

Formatting makes a document look good: change the font and size, make text bold, italic or underlined, change its colour, and set the alignment (left, centre, right, justify).

3. Lists, tables and printing

Use bullets or numbering for lists, insert a table for rows and columns, run the spell check, then print the document.

Bullets and numbering make lists, tables hold rows and columns, spell check finds mistakes, and then we print.
