What this unit is about
Data science methodology is the set of steps used to solve a problem with data, from understanding the problem to building and checking a solution.
1. Understand and collect
First, understand the problem and what result is needed. Then collect the right data from surveys, records or sensors.
2. Prepare and model
Prepare the data by cleaning it (fill gaps, fix errors). Then model it, choosing and training a machine learning model that fits the problem.
3. Evaluate and deploy
Evaluate the model to see how well it works on new data. If it is good, deploy it so people can use it, and keep improving it.
